Vésteinn Vésteinsson is a main character in Gísla saga. He is Gísli's best friend and the brother of Gísli's wife Auð. He is treacherously murdered in his sleep; the author never makes clear who exactly the murderer is, although it is implied to be Þorgrím Þorsteinsson, who overheard an allegation that his wife had been unfaithful with Vésteinn. His death begins a long and bloody feud between Gísli and pretty much everyone else in Iceland.
